Hospital Tours

Join SPN on a tour of the University of Minnesota Masonic Hospital and the Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota. These tours provide the opportunity to observe how area children’s hospitals operate, learn how they manage day-to-day challenges and gain insights to take back to your workplace. Have you thought about writing a manuscript for publication but don’t know where to start? Have you completed a great evidence-based project or quality improvement initiative that you want to share? While sharing our success stories is of vital importance to our profession, writing for publication often seems overwhelming! This workshop is designed to teach you the process of writing for publication from abstract to summary. To get the most out of this workshop, bringa draft of a manuscript and get feedback from others. 

Evidence-Based Practice: The True North for Guiding Nurses towards Optimal Nursing Care

The purpose of this workshop is to prepare nurses to initiate evidence-based practice in the patient care setting. It is designed for clinical nurses at the point of care, nurse leaders, nursing educators and nursing students. The workshop provides an overview of evidence-based practice in nursing, including how to investigate clinical inquiries, using appraisal tools to review literature, and implementation and evaluation strategies. Examples of evidence-based practice projects from the clinical and academic environments are presented. Participants are encouraged to bring EBP questions and published journal articles to critically appraise.

Join us for an Awards Luncheon, sponsored by the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board, to acknowledge the exemplary contributions of the 2016 SPN awardees and SPN leaders. This session includes a plated meal. Pre-registration is required.

 

Certification Preparation Review Course

This conference includes test taking strategies for success and a thorough pediatric nursing content review. Pre-registration is required.
