Session Description: Pediatric nurses expertly navigate the complexities of patient care, family and team issues, and the systems in which they work. They also deserve time to focus on their own goals and aspirations. This session will help them to “look up” and consider the next steps in their growth and professional development.
Primary Presenter Bio: Susan Bindon earned a DNP, post-graduate teaching certificate, and an MS from the University of Maryland School of Nursing; and a BSN from the University of Pittsburgh. She is an assistant professor at the Institute for Educators at University of Maryland School of Nursing, and is the 2016-2017 AACN Excellence and Innovation in Teaching Award winner.
Susan maintains her practice in staff education at the University of Maryland Medical Center. She is an NLN Certified Nurse Educator, and is ANCC certified in Nursing Professional Development. She is Co-Editor of the Journal for Nurses in Professional Development.
She presents at various national conferences, and has authored peer-reviewed articles and book chapters. She has experience with mentoring, grant writing, new graduate residency programs, and has a special interest in preceptor development. She has served as an academic accreditation site visitor and on the Board of Directors for ANPD
