Learn impactful mindfulness techniques, build resilience, and gain actionable strategies to enhance personal well-being and nurture a positive work environment. Identification and Response to Human Trafficking in the Healthcare Environment

Specifically developed for nurses and healthcare providers, this life-saving workshop will discuss the nature of human trafficking, its intersection with healthcare, methods of identification and response, and most importantly, prevention. Learners will be given the most up-to-date statistics, research, and initiatives in the fight against human trafficking. As many as 87% of people who survived trafficking report passing through the medical environment and were undetected by healthcare professionals. Nurses are critical front-line responders in the fight against the trafficking of persons, who can present in any clinical setting. Learners will also be equipped with knowledge and skills to be able to form protocols and engage with leadership in their organization to spearhead anti-trafficking measures in the workplace. The workshop will end with a live testimony of human trafficking survivors.

This three-hour workshop will review and demonstrate strategic opportunities which will deliver impactful DEI results in nursing.  Participants will engage in interactive collaborative dialogue addressing culture, recruitment, and retention. The presenters will provide practical takeaways that can be applied post-conference, regardless of role or practice setting.
